Idaho follows the story of a family of four- Wade, Jane and their two daughters- and how their life changes on one August day. The award was judged by Éilís Ní Dhuibhne, Ge Yan, Hans-Christian Oeser, Evie Wyld, and Martin Middeke while Eugene Sullivan was the non-voting chair of the panel of judges. Ruskovich's debut novel was selected as a winner from a shortlist of 10 novels from various countries including Pakistan, UK, France, Ireland and USA. The public library in Brugge, Belgium nominated Ruskovich's Idaho calling it a “special debut novel" and "a real gem”. This year, 141 entries were nominated by libraries from across the world for the prize. ![]() Ruskovich became the fourth American novelist to win the prestigious award in its 24th year the prize is organised and sponsored by Dublin City Council. ![]() International Dublin Literary Award is the largest prize for a single novel published in English. American author Emily Ruskovich won the International Dublin Literary Award 2019 worth €100,000 for her debut book Idaho. ![]()
